The Ataija Blue is a grey limestone with bluish color tone, which has a fine grain and fairly uniform structure. It shows occasional darker lines, as well as some slight grey/blue color tone variation. The Ataija limestone can either be found with a beige color, grey color or mixed beige and grey colors.
This is perhaps the hardest type of limestone found in Portugal, but also one of the few grey colored limestones, which makes it very popular and on high demand.
Compression strength: 1650 kg/cm2; Flexural strength: 105 kg/cm2; Open porosity: 0.9%
Its considerable hardness and grey color consistency makes the Ataija Blue a very popular limestone, in particular for exterior applications such as street paving, diverse landscaping, all sorts of stonework, but also for interior and exterior flooring. It can also be found on decoration and cladding.
